There are some things about weight loss that are fairly universal. Understanding these “truths” can help you break the barriers to weight loss.

1. Diet results in loss of energy: Have you ever been in a situation where you start dieting and then suffer from fatigue barely after a few weeks you are in the diet program? Well that is hardly surprising. Most diet programs are designed in such a way that by using them you would lose your money rather than fat. Truth to be told, you do actually lose some weight using those quick fix diet pills, but that weight is the combined weight of water and muscles. You may be thrilled when you notice that scale slide down a bit, but you have NOT lost even one pound of fat, and it wouldn’t be long before you gain back all the weight you had lost!

2. It has something to do with age: Remember the days when you were young? You would probably eat a whole cow and still remain fit. Are you in the same situation now? Nope. Today you are perhaps married with kids, have a job and a family to look after, so much so that you barely get time to look after yourself. You hardly get the time to think about the kind of food you are eating. All you think is about convenience. If eating junk foods from your local restaurant seems to be the most convenient option for you, then you’d prefer that over home cooked meal. After all, who has time to cook at home, right?

Remember that with age your body has also changed. Maybe that you used to follow this same fast lifestyle even 20 years ago but managed to remain fit, but today you can no longer afford to do so, because age has come in your way. You may or may not be aware of this fact, but old people burn fat at a slower rate than their younger counterparts because their metabolic rate generally tends to be slower.

As you have probably realized by now, there is no better alternative to home cooked meals as far as diet is concerned. All those fad diet programs are not going to help you lose weight until you make this one important change. A healthy diet coupled with a good dose of exercise is the perfect combination needed for healthy and quick weight loss!
