Dancing, depending on what kind we are talking about does burn calories - and fast. High energy dancing such as hip-hop and Jazz can burn as many calories in an hour as walking or swimming! Thats not all, dancing will help tone muscles as well giving you a trimmer, more sculpted body.
Then theres the practical side… If you enjoy an exercise, you are that much more likely to continue with it. If dancing is something that you like to do then it just makes sense that you will be more willing to do it on a regular schedule (like exercise needs to be to be effective).
If you love the thought of freshening up your dance moves wile losing weight, check your local papers for dance classes in your area. You can start telling your friends that you have “taken up dancing”. Hey, it sounds allot more exotic than “I’m starting an aerobics class”.
If theres not much in your area in the way of dance lessons, don’t despair. There are some good dvd’s that will have you dancing from the comfort of home.
